![]() ![]() When making the presentation the view of the map will be stepped through this series of slides in ‘full screen presentation mode’. To do a presentation with VUE you first have to define a ‘path’, this is a series of slides. I have not used VUE as a presentation tool and so maybe I have a biased opinion. The program stores its maps in disk files which have to be saved manually. It was written to allow students to take notes during lectures and to make presentations. This program comes from Tufts University in the USA. It's only available as a 64-bit download.VUE stands for Visual Understanding Environment. Previous versions of the operating system shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista having been tested. VUE can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Download and installation of this PC software is free and 3.3.0 is the latest version last time we checked. VUE is provided under a freeware license on Windows from organizer and PIM software with no restrictions on usage. As the availability of digital information continues to increase, VUE sets itself apart as a flexible tool to help faculty and students integrate, organize and contextualize electronic content in their work. Numerous tools currently exist for locating digital information, but few applications are available for making sense of the information available to us. VUE provides a concept mapping interface, which can be used as such, or as an interface to organize digital content in non-linear ways. In fact, the benefits of concept mapping as a learning tool have been documented by over 40 years of cognitive science research. Using a simple set of tools and a basic visual grammar consisting of nodes and links, faculty and students can map relationships between concepts, ideas and digital content.Ĭoncept mapping is not new to the educational field.
